Electronic Notes

I am forever trying to find ways to organize for FREE!!! I have used and researched sites that you can keep your notes and track your time for Direct and Indirect counseling services. I will fully admit that I am cheap. I took the ideas I liked from each site (I did not copy or plagiarize so don't turn me in to the copyright police). I put the things that I thought I would need for recording notes as well as keeping track of my time.  Here is what I have come up with.  

Direct and Indirect Notes are on separate Google Drive forms. I thought separating them would be the easiest way to be able to manipulate the data. I may change my mind later and combine them. For now, this is what I am playing with. I have a running total on the spreadsheets to know what my total time is, and I can manipulate the columns to get more specific.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

    Those look good Emily, but I don't see a few of my big time-suckers in the indirect category: teacher consults, parent contacts, and e-mails/phone calls to collateral providers. Are they in one of the drop-down menus? I have a lot of difficulty tracking those, yet they take up a huge amount of my time and energy.

      Yes, those are in one of the drop downs. Those are my heavy hitters, too.

      Emily what do you do if you need to print a note? I have setup a form, but there are times that I need the actual note and the only thing I can find is the spreadsheet.

    Emily, what is the reason why you decided to discontinue NoteCounselor and switch to Google Docs? Last year I used NoteCounselor and I am interested in using Google Docs too.

      1. I wanted something free. I guess I am cheap but it would come out of my own pocket.
      2. I want to be able to take notes quickly without having to login somewhere.
      3. I got kicked out after 10 minutes if I was simply taking notes so I would lose my notes.

      These things may seem petty, but I am looking for easy and cheap (preferably free)

      I was wondering about security and confidentiality as well. I love this method, but how are HIPPA and FERPA addressed?

      I think with any online data collection system, there is a risk of someone hacking (even the government has this problem). I have mine password protected so I feel pretty secure in my notes since it is password protected.

    Haha! Millionaire sounds great! I feel very strongly that we are all in this together to share ideas and resources so that's why I haven't tried to sell anything.       Hi...I would really like to utilize this format to be able to keep better track of my time, but I need help. I tried creating something similar, but how do you access the Google form directly?     I am just curious, why use google docs over a word program for example? I am trying to figure out the best free way to go paperless and was just curious why one over the other.

      Here are some of the reasons I use google docs instead of word:

      1. I can access my google docs anywhere where as word is only on my computer.
      2. I like the ease of the google forms.
      3. I like how the spreadsheet is automatically made and I can manipulate the spreadsheet how I want it.
      4. When entering new info in google forms, no other information is shown. In word, I would be exposing all of my other information.

      I think it is really just a personal preference. If you like and feel comfortable with word then go for it! Hope this helps!

    I tweaked mine just a little so I don't have 2 separate forms. I gave you access. Just make copy and then you can change it how you want.
